Frequently Asked Questions
  Common questions

Q: Are you eligible for physician home care?

If you have difficulty getting to a doctors office, then house call visits are likely covered in the same manner as a regular visit to an office based physician.

Q: What insurances do you accept?

We accept Medicare and most other insurances. Private pay options are also available.

Q: Will my insurance cover a visiting doctor?

Medicare and Medicaid insurance will cover home visits for those patients who qualify. Medicare will cover 80% of the allowed amount with the other 20% billed to the patient's secondary insurer, the same as the physician's office. Visiting Physicians Association also has an Indigent Care program for those who qualify.

Q: How much does a visit cost?

We accept Medicare and most insurance. Deductibles or co-payments required for medical services are handled in the same way as a trip to a physician's office.

Q: Do you take Medicaid?

We do accept patients with Medicaid coverage.

Q: Do you take Private Pay patients?

Yes. We require a $300 deposit, payable by cash, check or money order at time of the visit or by Visa/MasterCard prior to visit.

Q: How quickly can a doctor visit?

Doctor visits can typically be scheduled to visit you within 24-48 hours (during the week) of receiving your call.  However, there are some exceptions so please call the VPA location in your area for exact schedule times.

Q: Does the doctor see patients on the weekend?

Ordinarily the doctor makes the initial visit Monday thru Friday.

Q: How often does the doctor come out to visit?

Each patient is seen as medically necessary based on your physician's assessment and plan of care.  Depending on your medical needs, visit frequency will vary.  If you are sick and are experiencing issues, your doctor will see you more often.  Whether you need us the next day or in a month, we will be there.  When needed, we can usually get to your home for urgent needs within 24-48 hours.

Q: What if I need an urgent appointment?

Our services prevent many urgent needs by seeing patients on an appropriate follow-up basis.  When needed, we can usually get to your home for urgent needs with 24-48 hours.

Q: What services do you offer?

We offer basically the same services you would receive in a doctor's office setting including physical examinations, laboratory services and diagnostic testing.

Q: What if I have to go to the hospital?

Visiting Physicians Association works with all the local area hospitals and will continue your care before, during and after your hospital stay.

Q: What are the hours that the doctor visits patients?

Our physicians see their patients between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm. Visiting Physicians Association generally schedules morning or afternoon visits.

Q: Will I have the same doctor every visit?

We make every effort to send the same doctor to you for each visit.

Q: Can I still see my regular doctor?

VPA will assume the role of your primary care provider. VPA will advise your regular doctor during your course of treatment and consult with any specialty providers you have as deemed necessary.

Q: What if I need to get a hold of my doctor after hours?

After hours, we have an on-call service that is available to triage your medical needs.

Q: Do you come out for emergency visits?

Feel free to contact the doctor at any time; we will schedule a sick visit within 24 to 48 hours. However, if it is a life threatening emergency please call 911 or go to the emergency room.

Q: Are you eligible for physician home care?

There are no obligations. You are in charge of your health care. You decide whether you want us to provide care just when you are sick or on a regular basis.
